Malaysian premier departs for Iran

Malaysian Prime Minster Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, heading a high-ranking delegation, left late Friday evening for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Malaysian premier is scheduled to arrive in the ancient city of Isfahan, in central Iran. Isfahan has been declared sister city with Kuala Lumpur.
He then will proceed to Tehran Sunday afternoon.
During his three-day official visit to Tehran, Badawi is to meet President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and several other senior Iranian officials.
The visit is expected to lead to further expansion of relations between the two friendly countries and would help explore new opportunities for further economic cooperation.
Premier Badawi is accompanied with a number of senior officials including Foreign Minister Hamid Albar and the interior minister.
Badawi's wife is also accompanying him.
