News) - Pertikaian antara pasukan keamanan Malaysia dengan sekelompok warga
Filipina bersenjata, Jumat, berakhir dengan baku tembak yang menewaskan
setidaknya dua polisi.
Kantor berita resmi Malaysia Bernama mengatakan dua
polisi tewas akibat satu serangan mortir dan dua lainnya cedera setelah pasukan
keamanan berusaha menghalau sekitar 100 warga Filipina yang mengasingkan diri
di negara bagian Sabah, Malaysia timur, selama lebih dari dua pekan terakhir.
Kelompok suku Filipina bersenjata yang mengklaim diri
sebagai pengikut Kesultanan Sulu di Filipina selatan menuntut pengakuan serta
uang ganti rugi dari Pemerintah Malaysia karena telah membunuh 10 anggota
mereka.
Filipina hanya mengonfirmasi seorang di antara anggota
kelompok itu tewas, dan mengatakan 10 orang lainnya menyerah sedangkan sisanya
lari ke arah laut.
Kedua pemerintah mendesak kelompok itu pulang dan PM
Najib, seperti dikutip Bernama, Jumat, mengatakan kesabarannya telah habis.
"Jangan menguji kesabaran kami. Kesabaran kami
telah mencapai batas," katanya.
"Kita berencana mengusir mereka. Mereka harus
menyerah dan pergi," kata Najib, yang harus menyelenggarakan pemilu pada
April dan mendapat tekanan oposisi karena membiarkan konflik aneh itu
berlarut-larut.
Raul Hernandez, juru bicara Departemen Luar Negeri
Filipina, mengutip pernyataan duta besar Malaysia untuk Manila mengatakan
konflik itu telah selesai.
Konfrontasi itu mengancam meningkatnya ketegangan
antara Filipina dan Malaysia, karena hubungan dua negara secara periodik dilanda
masalah-masalah keamanan dan migrasi di sepanjang perbatasan laut.
Surat kabar Malaysia The Star memberitakan setidaknya
dua pria bersenjata tewas dan tiga polisi cedera.
Satu rumah sakit di Sandakan, sekitar 90 km dari
lokasi pertikaian di Lahad Datu, menyatakan kepada Reuters pihaknya telah
menerima tiga personel polisi yang cedera.
Pemimpin kelompok itu sebelumnya mengemukakan kepada
radio Filipina mereka telah dikepung polisi Malaysia yang memperingatkan dalam
beberapa hari belakangan ini bahwa batas waktu mereka untuk pergi telah habis.
Kelompok bersenjata itu menuntut pengakuan dari
Malaysia dan merundingkan kembali ketentuan-ketentuan asli tentang Sabah yang
disewakan oleh Kesultanan Sulu itu kepada satu perusahaan dagang Inggris pada
abad ke-19.
Para
pejabat Malaysia mengatakan tuntutan kelompok itu tidak akan dipenuhi.

Lahad Datu stand-off:
Two Sulu gunmen shot dead
FELDA SAHABAT (LAHAD DATU): At least two
Sulu gunmen are believed killed and three policemen injured in an encounter in
Tanduo village this morning.
According to first reports emerging from
Tanduo village, the three injured cops were being airlifted to Sandakan.
As of 12.45pm, villagers say they were
still hearing gunshots.
However, Malaysian security forces have
yet to confirm the first reports emerging from gunfire heard at Tanduo village
from about 11am Friday.
Police have also decline to comment if
the gunfire was the start of a move against the gunmen led by Azzimudie Kiram,
the younger brother of self proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III.
The Star's attempt to contact Azzimudie
went into answering mode but he has reportedly told a Philippines radio around
10.20am that they were being shot at and they had to defend themselves.
He claimed there were casualties on his
side.
Azzimudie, who claimed that he was also
involved in the shooting, said that the Malaysian security forces suddenly came
in and the fire fight started.
He said he did not know if any of the
Malaysian policemen were injured but he vowed not to retreat or call for a
ceasefire.
Azzimudie said that his group will not
retreat or call for a ceasefire but continue to defend themselves at Tanduo
village which they have been occupied by about 180 followers including 30
gunmen since Feb 9.
As word of the shooting filtered out,
parents in Lahad Datu and surrounding Felda Sahabat oil palm plantations and
nearby Tungku, rushed to pick up their children, forcing schools to close.
Many shops in Lahad Datu town about
165kms away from Felda Sahabat 17 had also closed.

two ambulances of standby with a medical team.

Lahad Datu: Two police commandos dead, four others injured
LAHAD DATU: Two police commandos are killed after police started
their operations on the Sulu gunmen following a stand-off which started on Feb
9.
Bernama reports that the commandos were killed in a mortar
attack after police moved in at the Tanduo village here on Friday.
Four other policemen were injured in the operations.
